Peaceful?

The Terri Schiavo case is so sad and disgusting at the same time. They have banned cameras in Terri's room, at the request of Michaels lawyer, now on one hand that is probably a good thing, on the other, it masks the horrible circumstances of Terri's death. According to the article I just read, she is now bleeding from her eyes and mouth, and I'm sure as the "doctors" on Michaels side said, this is so very peaceful for her.

Yeah, the whole concept of a 'peaceful' death went out of the window when the litigation and protests started.  Regardless of whether she's aware of what's happening or not, this is an awful way to die.  Long, drawn out....we treat the worst murders in the country better than Ms Sciavo's being treated right now.

I read on MSBNC yesterday that before the incident that led to her being in a PVA, Teri was a very shy, reserved person who didn't like to stand out.

How ironic.

If Terri was a convict on death row...awaiting to die, we would need to cordon off all those protesters who wanted to commute her sentence to life without parole. And the majority of media pundits would be chiming in with the wrongs of the death penalty. But reality is those same pundits and supporters of the despictable husband seem almost willing to ignore erroring on the side of life in this case.

If after she's dead, and as I suspect, we find out some very alarming things bout the husband, aside from what we know now, would all those who wished to see her die come out and say they were wrong or will they ignore it and move on to the next illogical cause?

I tend to think, as any parent and loving family would, that the circumstances now are being overblown a bit. I think she is suffering, I think that it is heinous and the people directly involved should be put in jail, but I think the parents and others involved are going to paint as lurid a picture as possible to try and get enough public will to stop it.

On the other hand, I was immensely offended by Schiavo's lawyer saying that he "had never seen her more beautiful and peaceful". At the very least, if the Schindlers are exagerrating, they are doing it to save their daughter's life. Why wouldn't?

To me there is a supreme difference between trying to persuade people that someone is suffering, and DEVALUEING the suffering of a dying, tortured person, just to make murdering them more palatable to the viewing public...
